SeeqPod Widgets Drive Show Attendence on BandLoop

We’ve been all over the "playable search" engine SeeqPod since its launch last year because it’s such a powerful way to conjure an embeddable playlist from all the music sitting on various public servers around the world. Unfortunately, the company also attracted the attention of Warner Music Group, which sued the company for linking to sites hosting unauthorized music in January.

Bandloop, which lets bands add their tour schedules and so that fans can subscribe to updates, offers some evidence that SeeqPod’s free music streaming service can be integrated into more businesses.

Now, when a friend or the BandLoop system recommends a show to you, embedded SeeqPod widgets let you hear what the band sounds like in an instant (i.e. without opening MySpace or YouTube in another browser window).

One thing SeeqPod has to prove in its Warner suit is that there are legitimate applications for its technology. It’s hard to see how letting fans preview songs before buying show tickets could be seen as illegitimate. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
